Why You Need to Ask About Core Values During Job Interviews

Core values and why you have to ask about this during interviews.

If you look at the long list of jobs you have had, you will notice that the longest job you held is usually the ones you liked. It can be because of the boss, the kind of challenges given, or opportunities. Or you just seem to like the whole experience.

Then, you look at some of the jobs where you only spent a short while there. You just could not point out exactly what makes you unhappy, or unproductive.

It is your core values speaking to you.

If your values are aligned to what the organization has, the likeliest you stay longer (and happier) is there.

You can ask indirectly during the interview session whether theirs are aligned with yours. But first, you need to know what is yours. Some of the values you might be familiar with are – achievement, diversity, integrity, innovation, growth and the list goes on.
