Speak Like a Human Being!

Tell me in layman’s terms!!

a) “The CBC result for Miss Elsa the Cat is back. If you can see here, the white blood cells are 6.05. The parameters are here.”
b) “I suggest we run an HCT for Miss Elsa.”
c) “The WBC does not look good. It is not within the normal parameter.”
d) “The PLT is low. Not good.”

Or… try these:

a) “The best optimization method depends on the problem at hand. If the problem has a special structure, you may benefit from decomposition or methods that employ side constraints on top of some other special method.”
b) “Shutting down the internet won’t do anything, we need to attach the cross-platform THX application!”
c) “Use the high-speed TPS network, then you can bypass the analog interface!”

Sounds like alphabet soup to you yet?

Sometimes you wonder why you get into a funny situation where you are facing a conflict with your co-worker, or worse still, your clients?

Stop for a moment, and consider how you communicate with them:

1) Is the message clear?
2) Can you explain it better?
3) Are you using too much jargon and technical terms?

and 4) is your ego getting the better of you because you know more…?

Do you want to be a people leader?

Speak like a human.
